Vassar College is accepting first-year applications for fall 2027 and meets 100% of the full demonstrated financial need of admitted students for all four years, including international students who request aid with their admission application. International admission is need-aware, meaning an applicant’s financial need may be considered during selection. Vassar does not offer this institutional aid to international transfer applicants.

What does Vassar financial aid cover?
Vassar promises to meet the full demonstrated need it calculates for every admitted student who applies for aid on time. This is need-based assistance, not a fixed merit scholarship or an automatic full ride. The award depends on family finances reported through the CSS Profile and supporting documents.
The college states that full demonstrated need is met for all four years. The exact mix and amount are determined individually, so applicants should review their personal offer rather than assume a universal cash value. International students must request aid when they apply for admission; students admitted without aid are not eligible for Vassar funding in later years.
Who can apply?
- Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents are treated as international students.
- You must be applying as a first-year student. International transfer applicants are not eligible for Vassar financial aid.
- You must request financial aid at the same time as admission.
- You must submit the CSS Profile and any subsequently requested IDOC records by the relevant deadline.
- You must satisfy the academic and English-language requirements for international applicants.
Students who have completed secondary school but have not enrolled at a college or university may apply as first-year applicants. Those who began university study after secondary school must use the transfer route, for which Vassar says international aid is unavailable.
Application deadlines for 2027 entry
| Plan | Admission deadline | Financial-aid deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Early Decision I | November 15, 2026 | November 15, 2026 |
| Early Decision II | January 1, 2027 | January 1, 2027 |
| Regular Decision | January 1, 2027 | February 1, 2027 |
Vassar’s current pages publish these dates without a common submission hour or time zone. Submit early and use the date shown in your applicant portal as the final authority. Early Decision is binding; Regular Decision is not.
Required admission documents
- Common Application or Coalition Application
- US$65 application fee or approved fee waiver
- School Report
- Counsellor recommendation
- Official high-school transcript
- One teacher evaluation
- Mid-year report
- Early Decision Agreement, for ED applicants only
- English-proficiency results when required
International transcripts must show a complete certified record of secondary-school coursework and grades. If the school does not issue records in English, submit both a certified original and an English translation. Relevant national or international examination results should be included with the academic record; final terminal examination results are required for enrolment.
Financial-aid documents
- CSS Profile: Required for domestic and international students seeking Vassar scholarship aid; use Vassar code 2956.
- Separate parent profiles: If parents are divorced or separated, each parent completes an individual CSS Profile.
- IDOC documents: Submitted when College Board sends instructions after CSS Profile completion.
- Additional records: Vassar may request tax, non-tax-filer, business or farm documentation according to the applicant’s circumstances.
The FAFSA applies only to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, not ordinary international applicants. Track missing items through Vassar’s applicant portal rather than relying solely on the IDOC dashboard.
English-language requirements
If English has not been the primary language of instruction at your secondary school for the last three years, Vassar requires an English-proficiency examination. The accepted routes are:
- TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition; TOEFL Essentials is not accepted
- IELTS Academic; IELTS General Training is not accepted
- Duolingo English Test
Vassar’s current international page does not publish a universal minimum score, so this guide does not invent one. Official agency results are strongly preferred for TOEFL and IELTS and are ultimately required for enrolment. Duolingo results must be sent directly by Duolingo when applying.
SAT and ACT scores are optional. Applicants who want scores considered must select that choice in the applicant portal by November 22 for ED I or January 8 for ED II and Regular Decision.
How to apply
- Choose your admission plan. Use Early Decision only if Vassar is your clear first choice and you accept the binding commitment.
- Complete Common App or Coalition. Indicate that you are applying for financial aid.
- Arrange school materials. Ask your school to send the transcript, School Report, counsellor recommendation, teacher evaluation and later mid-year grades.
- Submit English testing if required. Use an accepted exam based on your previous language of instruction.
- Complete the CSS Profile. Enter Vassar code 2956 and report family finances accurately.
- Complete IDOC requests. Upload only the records requested after College Board activates your IDOC access.
- Monitor the Vassar portal. Confirm that admission and aid checklists are complete before the relevant deadline.
- Review the offer. Check the calculated family contribution and every component before making an enrolment commitment.
Important points before applying
- Meeting full demonstrated need does not mean every applicant is admitted or receives the full published cost of attendance.
- International admission is need-aware and funding is limited.
- Request aid during the original admission application; you cannot normally add Vassar aid later.
- International transfer students are not eligible for Vassar aid.
- No official common deadline hour or time zone is published.
