Johns Hopkins University meets 100% of demonstrated financial need without loans for admitted international first-year students who apply for aid. What does Johns Hopkins financial aid cover?
Johns Hopkins states that it meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students. For international citizens awarded aid, packages are need-based and do not include loans. The amount is individualized from the family financial information submitted with the application; this is not a fixed-value scholarship or an automatic full ride for every applicant.
International aid is competitive. Hopkins reports that about 10% of its international students receive financial aid. A small number of merit scholarships are also available, and every applicant is automatically considered for them, but applicants should not rely on a merit award to cover their costs.
Who is eligible?
- Students applying for first-year undergraduate admission to Johns Hopkins University.
- Applicants of any citizenship, including students who are not U.S. citizens, permanent residents or eligible noncitizens.
- International applicants who request need-based aid when they first apply. Hopkins says international students who do not apply for aid as first-year applicants cannot normally add institutional aid later.
- Applicants who can complete the university’s academic, testing and financial-document requirements by the relevant deadline.
For international citizens, requesting aid is considered during admission. However, once an aid applicant is admitted, Hopkins says it will meet the student’s full calculated need without loans.
