What does the scholarship cover?
The award covers undergraduate Villanova tuition for the fall and spring semesters, on-campus housing, a meal plan providing up to 21 meals per week, the University’s general fee and the Villanova Textbook Access Program book fee. It is renewable through completion of one undergraduate degree or for eight semesters, whichever occurs first, provided the scholar meets programme and University requirements.
Applicants should budget separately for costs the official coverage list does not include, such as personal expenses, travel, health insurance or other course-specific charges. Villanova also notes that students receiving scholarship funds are expected to make a personal contribution toward educational and personal expenses.
Who is eligible?
- You must be applying as a first-time, first-year undergraduate student. Transfer students are not eligible.
- International applicants are eligible, although Villanova’s international admission process is need-aware.
- No nomination is required. Every applicant who submits a complete Villanova admission application by January 15 is considered during the initial review.
- There is no minimum GPA or SAT/ACT score set specifically for the scholarship.
- Competitive candidates typically demonstrate outstanding academics, leadership, civic engagement, creativity, community service and resilience.
Villanova says selected candidates are generally among the strongest applicants. The University remains test-optional for the 2026–27 admission campaign, and SAT or ACT scores are not required for Presidential Scholarship consideration.
Application process
- Apply for first-year admission. Submit the Common Application and all required Villanova materials.
- Meet the scholarship consideration deadline. The complete admission application must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on January 15, 2027. Earlier admission plans have November 1 deadlines.
- Wait for candidate selection. All eligible applicants are reviewed automatically; no nomination or initial separate scholarship form is accepted.
- Complete the invited application. Selected candidates receive an invitation through their Applicant Status Page. The scholarship application includes short-answer essays and an invitation-specific deadline.
- Attend the finalist interview. Finalists must participate in the required multi-day, on-campus interview programme in March.
- Review the award decision. Scholarship decisions follow the interview programme, and recipients normally accept the award in April.
Required admission documents
Applicants should prepare the Common Application, official secondary-school records, counselor materials, recommendations and any college-specific requirements. International records must be official, and documents not issued in English require an official translation.
International applicants must also submit Villanova’s Certification of Finances Form and a recent bank statement or financial letter through the Applicant Status Page. These financial documents are required even though the Presidential Scholarship itself is merit-based.
English tests and application fee
International applicants must normally provide proof of English proficiency through Cambridge English, Duolingo English Test, IELTS, Pearson PTE or TOEFL iBT. Villanova may waive this requirement when English is the applicant’s native home language or when the applicant has completed more than three consecutive years in a secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction.
The Common Application fee shown by Villanova should be checked at submission. An official fee-waiver request route is available for applicants for whom the charge is a barrier; applicants should not assume a waiver until it is approved.
