Dartmouth Financial Aid 2027 | 100% Need Met for International Students

Dartmouth Financial Aid 2027 is open to international first-year applicants through Dartmouth’s current application cycle. Dartmouth applies need-blind admission regardless of citizenship and meets 100% of every admitted undergraduate’s demonstrated financial need without requiring a student loan. Aid is calculated from each family’s finances, so this is not an automatic merit scholarship or a guaranteed identical award for every student.

What Does Dartmouth Financial Aid Cover?

Dartmouth calculates financial need by subtracting the family contribution from its estimated cost of education. The cost calculation includes direct expenses such as tuition, fees, housing and food, plus average indirect expenses such as travel, books and supplies. Dartmouth meets the resulting demonstrated need with scholarships or grants and student employment, without a required student loan.

International aid can include an allowance for travel to the United States. The exact package depends on Dartmouth’s assessment of the family’s financial circumstances. Students should not describe this as a universal full-ride award: the family contribution, student employment and other calculated components vary.

Who Can Apply?

  • International students applying for first-year undergraduate admission.
  • Applicants seeking Early Decision or Regular Decision entry for fall 2027.
  • Students who submit both the admission application and all required financial-aid documents.
  • Applicants of any citizenship who demonstrate financial need under Dartmouth’s institutional methodology.

Dartmouth states that international admission is need-blind, meaning a request for financial aid does not reduce an applicant’s admission chances.

Required Admission Documents

  • Common Application;
  • Dartmouth Writing Supplement;
  • secondary-school report with transcript, school profile and counselor evaluation;
  • two teacher evaluations;
  • SAT or ACT results, or an accepted alternative testing route where Dartmouth’s international-testing guidance applies;
  • English-proficiency test when the applicant’s first language is not English and the curriculum has not been taught in English for at least two years;
  • US$85 application fee or an approved fee waiver; and
  • Early Decision Agreement for binding Early Decision applicants.

English-Language Requirements

Dartmouth accepts TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test and Cambridge English. It publishes no absolute minimum. Its current guidance says most successful applicants score above IELTS 7, Duolingo 135 or Cambridge English 185. For TOEFL, most successful applicants score above 100 on tests taken before 21 January 2026 or at least 5 on the new scale for later tests.

Financial-Aid Documents for International Students

  • CSS Profile using Dartmouth code 3351;
  • income and tax documents required for the parents’ country of residence;
  • IDOC documents where the parents live in the United States; or
  • the applicable tax/income statement submitted to Dartmouth where parents live in Canada or another country.

Dartmouth lists CSS Profile fee-waiver guidance for eligible international applicants. Applicants should follow the country-specific instructions shown on the official aid page rather than assuming one document list applies worldwide.
