EIT Traineeship 2027: €1,500 Monthly Grant in Hungary

What the EIT traineeship funds
- €1,500 net per month under the current salary adjustment.
- A fixed travel contribution of €300 when recruited from an EU Member State or €400 when recruited from outside the EU, subject to the official distance, minimum-service and evidence conditions.
- For eligible trainees with disabilities, a supplement of up to 50% of the grant may be available upon proper justification.
- Practical experience in an independent EU body, exposure to EU policies and processes, and opportunities to develop professional skills.
Who is eligible?
The call prioritises nationals of EU Member States, EEA/EFTA states, EU candidate countries—Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine—and the potential candidate Kosovo. EIT may also accept a limited number of nationals from other countries, including the United Kingdom, provided they do not exceed 20% of the annual trainee intake. Applicants in that group should explain in their motivation letter how they would contribute to EIT objectives.
- You must have completed the first cycle of university education and obtained a full degree or equivalent by the application deadline.
- You need English at a minimum of CEFR B2 because English is EIT’s working language.
- The call does not name IELTS, TOEFL or another mandatory English test. Shortlisted candidates must provide suitable evidence for declared non-native language knowledge, such as a diploma, certificate or proof of study in that language.
- You must meet the official restrictions on prior traineeships or employment in EU institutions/bodies and contractual relationships with EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities.
- You must be free from the conflicts of interest described in the call and fit to perform the duties.

Applicants may identify up to two preferred areas in the motivation letter: Director’s Office; Communication & Stakeholder Engagement; Finance and Procurement; Grant Implementation; Human Resources; Innovation Capacity & Entrepreneurship Education; IT & Logistics; Legal; and Supervision and Monitoring.
Required documents
At the online application stage
- A completed application through the European Commission’s EU CV Online system, submitted in English.
- A motivation letter that identifies up to two preferred work areas and addresses relevant knowledge or experience, international or multicultural exposure, interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, and MS Office competence.
If shortlisted or selected
- Copies of declared university or postgraduate diplomas; an official university declaration for declared ongoing studies.
- An English translation when a diploma is not issued in an official EU language; certified translations may be required upon recruitment.
- Evidence supporting declared non-native language ability.
- Before appointment, a criminal-record extract; before starting, proof of sickness and accident insurance.
- Any immigration, visa or residence documents required for the place of employment. Third-country recruits are responsible for obtaining and maintaining these documents.

How selection works
EIT Human Resources first checks eligibility. A confidential Selection Board then reviews motivation, qualifications and experience shown in the submitted CV and motivation letter and draws up a shortlist. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an online interview when a position becomes available. Final selection is made by the EIT Director and/or the relevant Head of Unit, and candidates may be considered for a profile different from the preferences they listed.

Is the EIT Traineeship 2027 fully funded?
It is a paid traineeship with a €1,500 net monthly grant and a conditional fixed travel contribution. EIT does not provide compulsory sickness and accident insurance, and the call does not describe accommodation or visa costs as covered.
Can applicants from outside Europe apply?
Yes, but only a limited number may be accepted. Nationals outside the main EU/EEA/EFTA and candidate-country groups may account for no more than 20% of the annual intake.
