Key details
Destination: Netherlands · Level: Master’s
Funding: Tuition waiver + €1,550 monthly living support
Scholarship deadline: 1 February 2027, 23:59 CET

Funding and costs to budget for
Living support totals €20,150 over 13 months or €38,750 over 25 months. Tuition, visa costs, pre-academic training and specified insurance support are also included. Flights, the housing cleaning charge and any admission handling fee remain personal costs. The allocated room is mandatory and paid from the living budget; it is not an extra free accommodation benefit.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the participating programme’s entry requirements, hold eligible non-EU/EEA nationality, have no EU/EEA or Swiss dual nationality, and be no older than 35 on 1 September 2027. The minimum prior GPA is 7.5/10 or the stated equivalent. Previous Dutch degree-seeking study excludes applicants; an exchange does not. Preference goes to applicants without an existing master’s.

Deadlines, selection and arrival
The scholarship closes on 1 February 2027 at 23:59 CET. UM warns its portal is unavailable 22–26 October for an upgrade. Faculty ranking is followed by interviews; final outcomes are expected by early May. Awardees must attend the mandatory two-week pre-academic training beginning in August 2027.
Applicant-fit guidance
This is worth considering if your course appears on the list and your academic evidence supports a competitive application. Begin with the December admission requirement, then work backward to obtain transcripts, language evidence and referee cooperation. Do not plan around February alone.
Build a relocation budget separately from your monthly student budget. List flights, initial purchases and any charges payable before funds arrive. Ask a referee for a specific example of your analytical ability rather than a generic endorsement. In the financial statement, explain your circumstances accurately and concisely; avoid unsupported claims.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose any UM master’s?
No. Use the participating-programme PDF.
Is this the same as Brightlands?
No. Brightlands is a separate scheme with a campus-linked thesis requirement. UM limits applicants to one scholarship application, so compare routes before choosing.
Does admission guarantee funding?
No. Treat selection as competitive and keep another financial plan.
