The Monash International Leadership Scholarship can cover 100% of course tuition for a high-achieving international student starting an undergraduate degree at Monash University in Australia. Four awards are offered each year. There is no separate scholarship form: eligible applicants with a full, unconditional Monash undergraduate offer are considered automatically. The award does not cover Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), accommodation, living costs or other non-tuition expenses.

What the Scholarship Covers
The scholarship pays 100% of course fees until the recipient completes the minimum number of credit points required for the degree. Recipients are also invited to apply for Monash Minds, a first-year leadership program, and participate in the Campus Ambassador Program from their second semester.
Applicants should budget separately for OSHC, accommodation, food, transport, visa charges, books and personal expenses. Monash explicitly excludes OSHC, accommodation and living costs from this award, so it is best described as a full-tuition scholarship, not a full living-cost scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements
You may be considered if you:
- are an international student;
- have received a full Monash course offer with no conditions;
- intend to enrol full-time in an undergraduate degree at a Monash campus in Australia; and
- meet every academic, English-language and course-specific entry requirement for your selected degree.
You are not eligible if you are a current Monash student; are studying Australian Year 12; are commencing the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine; are in a Monash pathway program such as Monash College or Monash University Foundation Year; are transferring from another Monash campus; or are applying to Monash from another Australian university.
Documents to Prepare
There is no separate scholarship document pack. Your admission application is the basis for scholarship consideration. Monash says international applicants should be ready to provide:
- academic results, certificates and official transcripts;
- a copy of the passport identity page;
- evidence that you meet the English-language requirement;
- official English translations for documents issued in another language;
- any portfolio, employment evidence, prerequisite or other material required by the chosen course; and
- proof of the application-fee payment when applying directly, unless a valid waiver applies.
The current direct-application fee listed by Monash is AUD 125. Applicants using VTAC or an authorised education agent may follow a different route and fee structure.
English-Language Requirements
English requirements are course-specific. Monash accepts several ways of meeting them, including approved prior study or an approved English test, but the exact test and minimum score depend on the course. Check the official course page before booking a test; do not assume one score applies to every undergraduate program.
How to Apply
- Choose an eligible undergraduate course. Confirm that it is taught at a Monash campus in Australia and that you meet its academic, English and any extra selection requirements.
- Apply for admission. Most international applicants apply through the Monash online portal; some applicants studying Australian Year 12, the IB in Australia or New Zealand, or NCEA Level 3 in New Zealand apply through VTAC.
- Upload the required evidence. Include academic records, passport, English evidence and any course-specific material.
- Pay the applicable admission fee. Direct international applications currently carry an AUD 125 fee unless Monash grants a waiver.
- Obtain a full, unconditional offer. Conditional offers do not satisfy the scholarship eligibility rule.
- Wait for automatic scholarship assessment. No separate Monash International Leadership Scholarship form is required.
- Accept both offers if selected. Follow the instructions and deadlines in the course and scholarship offer letters.
Deadline and Time-Zone Guidance
Monash does not publish a separate closing date or time zone for this scholarship because there is no scholarship application. International students can generally apply for an undergraduate place throughout the year, with teaching normally beginning in early March and mid-July. However, Monash warns that some courses may close months—or even a year—before classes begin, especially where places are limited.
For 2027 entry, apply as early as practical and follow the exact closing date and offer-lapse deadline shown for your course. If no time is stated, do not invent one: rely on the Monash portal and your offer letter.
Practical Applicant Notes
- An unconditional offer matters. Clear outstanding academic or English conditions promptly.
- Academic results drive selection. The official page lists academic achievement as the selection criterion.
- Only four awards are offered. Treat the scholarship as highly competitive and maintain a realistic funding plan.
- Plan for non-tuition costs. A 100% tuition award still leaves OSHC, visa, travel and living expenses.
- Retention is active, not automatic. Recipients must maintain a 70 Weighted Average Mark each semester and participate in the Campus Ambassador Program.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Monash International Leadership Scholarship fully funded?
It covers 100% of course tuition, but not OSHC, accommodation or living expenses. It is therefore a full-tuition award rather than a complete cost-of-attendance package.
Do I submit a separate scholarship application?
No. Monash automatically considers eligible international students after they receive a full, unconditional undergraduate offer.
Can postgraduate students apply?
No. The current official scholarship page limits this award to students intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate degree at a Monash campus in Australia.
Are all undergraduate courses eligible?
No. The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine is excluded, and pathway programs are not eligible. Applicants must also satisfy the rules for their chosen degree.
What is the 2027 deadline?
There is no separate scholarship deadline. Admission remains open across the year for many courses, but individual courses can close early. Use the deadline on the official course page and apply early.
