Two awards are available to international students entering their first undergraduate degree in Fall 2027. The High School Prestige Awards application is open from October 1 to December 1, 2026. UCalgary does not state a cutoff time or time zone.

What does the scholarship cover?

Benefit Official detail
Annual value CAD $20,000
Duration Renewable in years 2, 3 and 4
Maximum potential value CAD $80,000 if all renewal conditions are met
Renewal standard GPA of at least 2.60 over a minimum of 24.00 units in the previous fall and winter terms, while continuing to pay the international differential tuition fee

Who is eligible?

You must be an international student who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and who will pay international tuition fees. You must enter the first year of any undergraduate degree in the upcoming fall term, satisfy UCalgary’s English Language Proficiency requirement and compete on academic merit.

The award page does not publish a separate minimum high-school average. Because this is a prestige competition with only two awards, meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee selection.

Required documents

  • Completed undergraduate admission application
  • Institution-issued high-school transcripts
  • Certified English translations when documents are not in English
  • English-language evidence or approved test results, when required
  • Any programme-specific items shown in your Student Centre
  • The separate High School Prestige Awards application in My UCalgary

UCalgary uses the Student Centre To Do list to confirm each applicant’s exact document requirements. International applicants may initially upload institution-issued unofficial transcripts; final official transcripts must come directly from the school or authorized issuing body.

English-language requirements

Applicants must satisfy UCalgary’s English Language Proficiency standard. For most undergraduate programmes, current minimums include IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 70, or TOEFL iBT 86 under the pre-January 21, 2026 scale. For TOEFL tests taken on or after January 21, 2026, the general minimum is 4.5. Education and Nursing have higher requirements. Applicants may also qualify through specified English-medium study or other approved academic routes.

Application fee

The undergraduate application fee is CAD $145 for applicants with any international education, or CAD $125 for applicants educated only in Canada. The fee is non-refundable. UCalgary’s official page does not advertise a general fee waiver for this application.

How to apply

  1. Create or sign in with a UCalgary eID and submit the Fall 2027 undergraduate admission application.
  2. Pay the applicable application fee.
  3. Wait up to 24–48 hours for the entrance-awards application to appear in Student Centre.
  4. Open My Financials, choose Apply for Entrance Awards, and complete the High School Prestige Awards application.
  5. Submit the scholarship application by December 1, 2026.
  6. Upload the admission documents listed in your portal by December 15, 2026 for prestige-award consideration.
  7. Monitor your email and Student Centre. UCalgary’s award calendar lists March/April for notification.

How competitive is it?

Only two awards are listed. The official selection criterion is academic merit, so applicants should present their strongest available grades and complete every portal item accurately. Do not treat CAD $80,000 as automatic: renewal depends on the annual GPA, course-load and international-fee conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a separate scholarship application?

Yes. First submit the admission application, then complete the High School Prestige Awards application through My UCalgary Student Centre.

What is the deadline?

The prestige-award application closes December 1, 2026. Required admission documents for the competition are due December 15, 2026. No cutoff time or time zone is stated.

Can the scholarship be renewed?

Yes, for the second, third and fourth years if the recipient earns at least a 2.60 GPA over 24.00 units in the previous fall and winter terms and continues to pay international differential tuition.
